Emmanuel arrives in Canada

Feb. 6, 2010: Emmanuel Ole Kileli, Chairman of our partner organization Ereto Maasai Youth [EMAYO] arrived in Canada last weekend. Over the next few months he will be studying to improve his English, talking about the work of his organization and building connections and support across Canada. The Kesho Trust is pleased to have him here to work together on new initiatives. You can help support Emmanuel during his stay. You can make a donation, provide supplies for his work here [e.g. laptop computer] or you can host Emmanuel at an event in your community. Please contact us if you want to participate in Emmanuel’s visit.

KT office opened in Dar

Dec. 2009:  The Kesho Trust is pleased to announce that we have opened an office on Chole Rd in Dar es Salaam. The office has been made possible through cooperation with the International Centre for Sustainable Cities in the CIDA Africa Project which is now underway. The Project Coordinator, Morgen Zivhave and Administrative Officer, Hamidah Mzoa have been hired in the project. Additional staff support are on their way this month in the form of Canadian interns – Ryan Whitney [Ottawa, Ontario] and Afton Halloran [Ladysmith, BC].

SANA and SEFA support PAPR

Jan. 2009: Our partner organization Saving African Nature [SANA] and a new local partner the Serengeti Farmers Association [SEFA] have agreed to assist in the community liaison component of our work in the Protected Areas and Poverty Reduction Research Alliance [PAPR]. They will work with the communities within the Saadani and Serengeti national parks study areas providing support of researchers and ongoing updates and engagement with the community.

Good Hope Building Campaign

Dec. 2010:  The Good Hope Trust has mounted a campaign for the construction of a much-needed community resource centre and health clinic. Your help would be appreciated. See the latest Good Hope update. Donate online with the Kesho Trust.

2009 was a good year for the Kesho Trust as illustrated by the news items above. Our annual report is being developed and we will be making it available on our website as soon as possible. Our work depends on public support. We hope that you will join with others who have demonstrated their support for our goals through their contributions to the work of the Trust and our partners.
